South Africa has a lot of Tech talent that can help us achieve the digital state we want. We need to help them grow. Geekulcha takes tech leadership onto students on campus.

Students Leadership Enlightenment STEM Innovation Open Source Careers


Intended for students and led by students at universities, the GKSS initiative is intended to grow Tech leaders of tomorrow by growing capacity, enlightenment and drive socio-tech cohesion on campus.
 

GKSS structures have their own activities independent of Geekulcha and have freedom to raise own funds with the help of the Geekulcha main body.

 

Vision: To groom of the strongest leaders in the ICT space in South Africa for Innovation, adequate skills Pool and drivers of the growing digitally-enabled world.

Mission: Establishing a highly active Developer/Maker Ecosystem in the university for a smart and vibrant community while realizing a socio-economical value.

Helping young people in high school through STEM Career development and alignment.

Enlightenment and Excitation

Exposing other students to new technologies, tools and usage to inspire/ignite innovation.

Tech Events

Hackathons, trainings, dataquests, etc. are hosted on campus to help students grow.

InfoSecurity Makers Gaming STEM Innovation Open Source Female


Open Campus is a GKSS programme to enable mass access to technological resources and tools, promote open innovation and elevate collaboration economy on campus.

The meetup events will be hosted at various campuses for students in the country. Students will connect, learn, share and help each other grow with each other's skills/knowledge.

Start a GKSS Chapter

Intended for students and led by students at universities, the Geekulcha Student Society (GKSS) initiative is intended to grow Tech and Innovation leaders of tomorrow by growing capacity, enlightenment and drive socio-tech cohesion on campus.

Who can apply: University and FET college students may apply to start a GKSS chapter on campus. Should there be more than one application from one campus, Geekulcha will connect all applicants.

GKSS Support: The GKSS chapter will be provided will branding materials fro the activation. For the programmes and activities, Geekulcha will provide funds support. The committee may seek additional funding.





 
 
2018

Chairperson

Accountable for the GKSS chapter and activities to the GKSS Manager. Leads the vision, team operations, meetings and executional activities of the GKSS chapter.

Treasurer

Helps manage finances of the GKSS chapter as well as to lead efforts in fund raising and enablement for the chapter to fulful its mandate.

2018

Secretary

Better connects the GKSS chapter with the institution and manages the GKSS membership as well as the overall participation into the industry and activities for growth.

Community Manager

Manages the digital presence and public relations as well as the chapter's communications onto the followers/members on campus.

2018

Manager: STEM and Female

Ensures that the GKSS chapter fulfil its mandate of helping shape the future, and enable and empower more females in the ICT field to ensure gender balances.

Manager: Tech, Innovation

Leads the Tech enlightenment and Innovation development programmes on campus as well as to help profile the overall Student Innovation.
